REPORTS TO: You will report to Atanniuvik’s Board of Directors (BOD).
You will be assisted by the Regional ResearchManager and also work closely with the Atanniuvik Implementation Team.

LOCATION: Flexible (any Nunavik village or fully remote)

START DATE: As soon as possible

Position Overview:

Atanniuvik, a new research governance organization led by Inuit, for Inuit, is seeking a visionary Executive Director to spearhead our operations. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to shape the research landscape in Nunavik, ensuring it aligns with the communities’ needs and priorities. The Atanniuvik team is actively working towards an operational launch in 2025.

Your Role:

Atanniuvik’s BOD is looking for an Executive Director who can take on the launch of this unique organization and then run the day-to-day operations. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to Nunavik’s self-governance in research.

The Executive Director will play a crucial role as a spokesperson for Atanniuvik within and beyond Nunavik. In the short-term, they will manage the establishment of Atanniuvik, including securing revenues, developing organizational policies and systems, and growing the staff team. In the long-term, they will oversee the day-to-day operations, including managing finances and staff.

Strategic Leadership: From securing office space and managing budgets to spearheading
strategic partnerships, you’ll oversee the organizational setup and operational launch planned for spring 2025.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary spokesperson, increasing
awareness of Atannivuk’s research review processes in a way that promotes engagement of both communities and researchers.

Team and Operations Management: Create and lead a dynamic team, ensuring efficient
operations while fostering an environment of collaboration.

Impact: Directly contribute to Nunavik’s self-governance in research, making a lasting impact on the region.

We Are Looking For:

  • Fluency in Inuktitut and English.
  • Proven experience in leadership, public speaking, and organizational representation.
  • Strong ability to independently and collaboratively managing projects and teams
    (minimum five years’ experience).
  • Experience with securing funding, managing budgets, and preferably, a background in
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse organizations.
  • Willingness to travel.
